Acrylic Monotype, Monoprint Workshops in My Studio, Yreka, California

2008

February 23-24

I have scheduled these small-individualized workshops in my studio teaching an acrylic monotype technique that I developed and perfected over the past 15 years. These workshops are intended for working artists interested in a new archival, water based approach to the monoprint. I promise an exciting and rewarding weekend.

There will be a limit of three artists per workshop. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and these workshops are intense and full of information, so bring a notebook. All supplies and tools, paint, paper, brushes etc are included in your fee. You are welcome to bring any special tools you may want to use. Expect to complete 3 to 5 monotypes during the weekend. The workshop is $350 (sliding scale considered). A deposit of $175 is required to reserve your space. You may cancel 10 days prior to the weekend. I can supply you with a list of accommodations on request. Ashland, Oregon and Mount Shasta are only 35 minutes from Yreka.

A continental breakfast and a full lunch will be provided on both days.

Here is a partial list of what you will learn:

Ø Creating a monotype using acrylic paints.

Ø Transferring the monotype image to paper without the use of the etching press.

Ø Making multiple transfers to the monotype plate from various surfaces, including glass,Plexiglas, wood, collagraphs, found objects, and carbon based acetone transfers and paper collage.

Ø Transferring the monotype image to canvas.

Ø Working with rollers, brushes, and other tools to create unusual surface textures.

Ø The use of acrylic paint viscosity as a monotype technique.
